New record: Canada processes 4.8 million applications in 2022

By the end of November, IRCC had processed approximately 4.8 million requests, almost double the 2.5 million processed during the same period last year.

Some highlights are 431,000 new permanent residents, 700,000 work permits, 670,000 study permits and 251,000 new citizens. The Canadian government also highlighted the reductions in the time for issuing study permits.

In November alone, more than 260,000 visas were processed for visitor visa applications, much higher than the monthly average in 2019 of 180,000 applications.
