Canada welcome 437,000 new permanent residents in 2022

Today, Minister of Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship, Sean Fraser, announced that Canada had reached the goal of 437,000 new permanent residents, surpassing the previous record of 2021. Before setting a new admissions record in 2021, the last time Canada received such a large number of newcomers was in 1913.

In the announcement published by the Canadian Government, the recognition of the significant and vital contribution that immigration has in the labour market, economy and communities around Canada is highlighted.

Canada aims to welcome 465,000 new permanent residents in 2023, 485,000 in 2024 and 500,000 in 2025.
