The government of Canada presents the 2022 Budget

The Canadian Government Budget 2022 has been released and we have listed below the main points related to immigration

-> In the 2022 Budget, the federal government proposes investments to increase the capacity to meet immigration demands and keep the economy growing;

-> To support the processing and establishment of new permanent residents in Canada – including increasing the government's commitment to Afghan refugees – the government has committed $2.1 billion over five years and $317.6 million in ongoing new funding.

-> The 2022 Budget proposes $385.7 million over 5 years and $86.5 million in progress, to facilitate the timely and efficient entry of an increasing number of visitors, workers and students.

-> The Government intends to change the federal immigration law to improve the ability to select applicants who meet the needs of the Canadian labour shortage and these applicants will be selected via Express Entry.

-> The 2022 Budget proposes to provide $187.3 million over 5 years and $37.2 million to improve the ability to respond to an increasing volume of queries and invest in the technology and tools needed to better support the people who use its Services.
