WHAT IS ALBERTA IMMIGRANT NOMINEE PROGRAM (AINP)


The Alberta Immigrant Nominee Program (AINP) is an economic immigration program that nominates people for permanent residence in Alberta. Nominees must have skills and abilities to fill job shortages in Alberta, and be able to provide for their families. The program is run by both the Alberta government and the federal government. 

 

AINP has three options for you to apply:

Alberta Oportunity Stream
Alberta Express Entry Stream
Self Employed Farmer Stream

 

Alberta Opportunity Stream (AOS)

To apply for the AOS, you need to already live in Alberta with a valid temporary resident status. You must have a employer specific visa (LMIA or LMIA-exempt occupations) or a Post Graduation Work Permit (PGWP) from a post-secondary program by an Alberta Institution.

 

Occupations:

Most occupations under the NOCS 0, A, B, C and D are eligible for the AINP. (We also have a video explaining everything about NOC, so check it out after this video). To apply for the AOS, you must work in one of the eligible occupations in Alberta, and have a valid job offer.
Occupation requirements also apply to your work experience and job offer. At the time your application is postmarked you must have either:

 

● A minimum of 1 year full-time work experience in your current occupation in Alberta within the last 1,5 years; or
● A minimum of 2 years of full-time work experience in your current occupation in Canada and/or abroad within the last 2,5 years.
● This work experience can be a combination of experience gained in Alberta, in Canada (outside Alberta) and/or abroad.
● Post-Graduation Work Permit holders require a minimum of 6 months full-time work experience in your current occupation in Alberta within the last 18 months.

 

Education: At the time your application is postmarked you must have completed a minimum of high school education in your home country.

 

The Alberta Express Entry Stream

This program allows Alberta to nominate a limited number of qualified candidates from Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada’s Express Entry system.

 

How does it work?

Based on available profile information in the Express Entry portal, Alberta may select candidates and send them a Notification of Interest letter in their federal Express Entry profile.

 

Who can apply?

Have stated an interest in immigrating permanently to Alberta – and have strong ties to the province are working in an occupation that supports Alberta’s economic development and diversification, and Have a minimum Comprehensive Ranking System score of 300.

Meet the criteria of at least one of the federal immigration programs: Canadian Experience Class, Federal Skilled Trades Program or Federal Skilled Worker Program Intend to and be able to live and work in Alberta


Self Employed Farmer Stream

 

The Alberta Self-Employed Farmer Stream is designed to bring immigrants to the province with extensive farm management experience.

 

To qualify under the Self-Employed Farmer Stream, the applicant must have:

 

Education, training and work experience necessary to develop a sustainable farming business in Alberta;
A proposed business plan for the farming enterprise they are considering in Alberta;

Proof that a Canadian financial institution is willing to finance the proposed farming enterprise

A minimum of $500,000 of equity to invest in the farming enterprise

A minimum net worth of $500,000 or confirmation of access to these funds.
