In your first contact with the recruiter (screening interview), you will be able to ask a couple of questions toward the end of the interview. You should think about genuinely important questions to you, and that may also help you in the next steps of the hiring process.
For instance, one great question you could ask is:
"What's the main challenge that the team is facing right now?"
The answer to this question will help you figure out at least 2 things:
1) What you are getting yourself into;
2) How you can better position yourself in your next interview as someone who can help the team overcome those challenges;
